Expressions, attitudes and movements<\/h2><div class=\"stk-block-heading__bottom-line\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-ca4bb01\" data-block-id=\"ca4bb01\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\"><strong>One of the messages that we photographers like to convey is the emotio<\/strong><b>n<\/b>. Personally, I like to create emotion through my animal portraits. And on this point, I don't think there are any good or bad attitudes to photograph, but there are attitudes and\/or movements that correspond more or less well to the emotion we're trying to promote through our photos. <strong>The challenge for the photographer is to imagine what the animal is thinking at the time, through the expression and emotion conveyed by the image.<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-6e1307a\" data-block-id=\"6e1307a\"><style>.stk-6e1307a {margin-bottom:50px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">In this case, the relationship with the horse is very important. As photographers, it's mainly thanks to their rider\/human partner that we're able to capture interesting attitudes and expressions.  In my opinion, this is an excellent opportunity to capture expressive exchanges. It's the complicity between the subjects that does all the work. I think that's the basis for horse portraits, and then of course you can play around with the technique.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-columns stk-block-columns stk-block As you can imagine, wide shots provide a global view of the situation. This is the moment of details, which alone are of little interest, but these images of details added to the wider shots offer an even more complete story.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-260af75\" data-block-id=\"260af75\"><style>.stk-260af75 {margin-bottom:50px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">To produce these plans, I'll show you which lenses I use in particular:<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-b3330d7\" id=\"3-les-objectifs-que-jaime-utiliser-dans-les-portraits-de-chevaux\" data-block-id=\"b3330d7\"><style>.stk-b3330d7 .stk-block-heading__bottom-line{background-color:var(--theme-palette-color-2, #a6003c  ) !important;}<\/style><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">3. The lenses I like to use for portraits of horses<\/h2><div class=\"stk-block-heading__bottom-line\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-70c0115\" id=\"dans-les-photos-de-cet-article-jai-surtout-utilise-3-objectifs-principaux-nbsp\" data-block-id=\"70c0115\"><style>.stk-70c0115 .stk-block-heading__bottom-line{background-color:var(--theme-palette-color-2, #a6003c  ) !important;}<\/style><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">In the photos in this article, I've mainly used 3 main lenses;&nbsp;<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-cdcf8ce\" data-block-id=\"cdcf8ce\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\"><strong>The most versatile is the 24-105mm f\/4 sigma mounted on my Canon 5D mark IV camera.<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-adff4d5\" data-block-id=\"adff4d5\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Very practical, but standard. You can technically do anything with this lens. It allows you to create what I would call the most neutral images. Which is to say the least creative, technically speaking. Nonetheless, it's with this lens that you can get some nice wide shots, which are very useful as explained above.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-da1077d\" data-block-id=\"da1077d\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">A contrario, <strong>I also like to use my canon 50mm, f\/1.4<\/strong>&nbsp;This time for tight shots. It's with this lens that I like to be close to the subject, as it distorts perspectives very little, and allows superb background blur.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-b594458\" data-block-id=\"b594458\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\"><strong>All that's left is the Sigma 70-120mm f\/2.8<\/strong> which I use for long-distance shots. Although it's quite far away from the subject, it allows me to take both wide shots and details. Or even moving, action shots that sometimes require a certain distance. What's more, the f\/2.8 aperture means you can also get nice blurred shots that really separate your subject from the background.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-40ac10c\" data-block-id=\"40ac10c\"><style>.stk-40ac10c {margin-bottom:50px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Now that the photos have been taken, and we have several types of images and shots, all that remains is to reveal them, and that's where post-production comes in.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-bc8b0e7\" id=\"le-developpement-et-la-post-production\" data-block-id=\"bc8b0e7\"><style>.stk-bc8b0e7 .stk-block-heading__bottom-line{background-color:var(--theme-palette-color-2, #a6003c  ) !important;}<\/style><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">Development and post-production<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-columns stk-block-columns stk-block stk-89eb1ed stk-block-background\" data-block-id=\"89eb1ed\"><style>.stk-89eb1ed {background-color:var(--theme-palette-color-5, #e1e8ed) !important;margin-bottom:50px !important;}.stk-89eb1ed:before{background-color:var(--theme-palette-color-5, #e1e8ed) !important;}<\/style><div class=\"stk-row stk-inner-blocks stk-block-content stk-content-align stk-89eb1ed-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-column stk-block-column stk-column stk-block stk-c42e110 stk-block-background\" data-v=\"4\" data-block-id=\"c42e110\"><style>.stk-c42e110 {align-self:center !important;background-color:transparent !important;}.stk-c42e110:before{background-color:transparent !important;}<\/style><div class=\"stk-column-wrapper stk-block-column__content stk-container stk-c42e110-container stk--no-background stk--no-padding\"><div class=\"stk-block-content stk-inner-blocks stk-c42e110-inner-blocks\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-fade946\" data-block-id=\"fade946\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">It's the last, absolutely essential step for me. <strong>Photo development and post-production are there to help your style shine through in your images.<\/strong> The first step in a photographer's style is framing, shots and angles, but there's no doubt that developing and retouching are equally important. The expression of colour, contrast, saturation, vintage effects, black and white etc... <strong>reinforce the basic creative idea<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-15598fa\" data-block-id=\"15598fa\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">But be careful, the development must be in harmony with the creative idea. When I say that, it's in the spirit of having an overall theme in mind. Either in a series of photos, or a theme harmonising the photo.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-606b152\" data-block-id=\"606b152\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">In other words, an illustration photo will not be developed in the same way as a photo with a cinematic or historical theme. <strong>A textured black and white photo will express something more historical or old-fashioned than a contrasting, highly coloured photo, which will be more \"modern\".<\/strong> .
